It’s time to impress everyone with your inner bartending skills. Uhuru have two cocktails that will impress all your Xmas Zoom party guests this year.

Developed by the utmost creative mixologist in town, these whisky tipples are guaranteed to be the talk of your festive fling.

We sourced the help of award winning cocktail guru, Iain McPherson (a.k.a The Cocktail Panda) to create Uhuru’s safari themed perfect serve and signature cocktail. All we had to do was pencil down a few of our cocktail dreams of African safari sunsets and cosy campfires before Iain grabbed his shaker & spoon and made our dreams a liquid reality.

TUSKan Fizz

Iain’s first creation is a simple, two-step recipe with enticing sweet & tangy flavours to quench your tastebuds. With colours inspired by the beaming sunsets of Africa, this tipple is a refreshing twist on the typical recommended serve for whisky.

Ingredients

  • 50ml Uhuru whisky

  • 150ml Bon Accord Drink’s cream soda

  • Pink grapefruit

Recipe

  1. Pour the Uhuru whisky and cream soda into a tall glass and fill with cubed ice right to the top.

  2. Garnish with a healthy wedge of pink grapefruit. Make sure to squeeze the pink grapefruit into the tall glass before dropping it in.

Campfire Old Fashioned

This dramatic cocktail has a blend of ingredients that allow you to ignite your very own safari campfire in the comfort of your own home. With smoky theatricals, this is perfect for impressing your friends at your Christmassy Zoom bash.

Ingredients

  • 50ml Uhuru whisky

  • 10ml Chai syrup*

  • 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters

  • 2 Cloves and ½ a cinnamon stick

  • Dark chocolate garnish

Chai Syrup Recipe*

  1. Boil 250ml water.

  2. Add 4 Chai teabags and leave to steep for 5 minutes.

  3. Take the teabags out.

  4. Add 250g of caster sugar and stir until its dissolved in the chai tea water.

If refrigerated the syrup will keep for 2 weeks.

Cocktail Recipe

  1. Add ice to the tumbler glass along with Uhuru whisky, chai syrup and 2 dashes of Angostura Bitter. Stir together until perfectly diluted and cold.

  2. Now for the smoke! This step has two options:

    • If you own a smoking gun and chamber, smoke the clove and cinnamon around the cocktail.

    • Alternatively, burn the cloves and cinnamon in a small mug next to the cocktail. Cover this with a large glass bowl to allow the smoke to build.

  3. Once you take the cocktail out, add a piece of dark chocolate onto either the top of the cocktail or in a small dish to the side.
